PORSCHE 997 TURBO TUNING
The 997 turbo engine was based on the rugged and reliable 964/GT1 design rated at 480 PS (353 kW; 473 hp) and 620 N⋅m (460 lb⋅ft) 680 Nm overboost (502 lbft) of torque. The turbochargers are fitted with a two-stage resonance intake system.
The engine uses two BorgWarner VTG turbos, a first for Porsche. The Variable Turbine Geometry incorporates guide vanes on the turbine wheel that change their angle of attack with exhaust speed, reducing boost lag at low speeds while opening up to prevent excessive back pressure at high RPM
At GCAP we have designed a package to further refine the German sports car's character with a few simple modifications.
We use a Capristo exhaust system on our tuning packages for this vehicle.
Capristo Sports Exhaust system for the Porsche 997 Facelift Turbo, Turbo S, GT2 & GT2 RS is made from T309 (1.4828) stainless-steel, has a valve-controlled unit and is backpressure optimized. The system is streamline optimized and comes with two 200 cell metal sport catalysts (OBD suitable) and two ceramic-coated end pipes that finish the look of the system.
The Capristo radically changes the exhaust note and feel of the car. It creates a fuller, deeper and throatier sound through the low and mid-range, and in the high revs creates an aggressive roar. A small power gain is achieved and the reduction in backpressure allows the engine to breathe with hugely improved efficiency, especially at high rpm.
The valves are both remote and automatically controlled as they open automatically at high revs to provide the loud sound, yet they can also be made to open early via the remote control system at the click of a button. Similarly the system can be silenced on demand as/when appropriate.
Made in ultra-high grade T309 stainless steel the Capristo system is also substantially lighter than the stock exhaust and its double-skinned construction and flow capabilities mean less heat is retained within the exhaust.
We have developed our own software to increase the cars performance. This comes in two forms. A stage 1 map (I.E. a software only calibration with no hardware changes) and a stage 2 (with our Capristo exhaust system).
When tuning we measure afr, ignition timing, intake temps, EGTs etc. to ensure our tune is as safe and reliable as possible whilst drawing the most out of your supercar.
We have seen gains up to 600bhp and 590lbft.
As with most Porsche, the brake system is excellent. However we can offer modified braided brakes lines. Our lines have a stronger wall density delivering a more precise and accurate brake pedal feel. This translates into more confidence in your supercar.
